Keynsham in Somerset was in for quite the surprise when its helter skelter was illuminatedThe lights around the edge of the helter skelter gave it an unexpected look (Image: SomersetLive/ WS) A town in Somerset suddenly realised it has a very X-rated Christmas decoration – when its lights were switched on. In fact one child’s fairground ride was revealed to have an altogether more PHALLIC look once illuminated. The Keynsham winter festival on November 24 provided a variety of festive entertainment for local residents, including carol singing, a funfair, a brass band and – of course – the keenly awaited light switch on. The helter skelter was given pride of place in front of the town hall and library – something that after the lights were turned on you might think they would regret.

However, with true Christmas spirit, residents did not seem mind. One person who witnessed the turning on of the lights, Louise Harris, told Somerset Live she was impressed at the council’s choice of Christmas decorations. She said: “I felt as though Keynsham had done a great job on erecting this year’s lights.
What’s hidden in your Christmas tree – and why you may want to keep it outside
“An interesting choice in decoration from the council that leaves little to the imagination. “Something to really get you into the Christmas spirit.”
